Year 5 Victorian School Experience

Posted: 16th May 2022

Yesterday, Year 5 visited Holly Lodge in Richmond Park for a Victorian school experience. We met Mrs Soya, our form mistress for the day. We learned about the three Rs: arithmetic, reading and writing. We discovered the currency used in the Victorian era and chanted out our times tables as well as writing on slates. If you were left-handed, you had to write with your right hand! Our last lesson was drills, where we learned how to march!

Afterwards, we explored the surrounding area making careful observations on the natural beauty and held a debate on whether something was man-made or a natural cause.

Overall, yesterday was a brilliant day and I learned so much!
