Year 3 National History Museum Trip

Posted: 18th March 2022

Year 3 have been learning about rocks and volcanoes this term. To find out more, we visited the Natural History Museum in London. The first thing we saw was the giant blue whale skeleton in the heart of the museum. It was enormous! After this, we went back in time to visit the dinosaurs. There were so many facts about the Jurassic and Triassic periods, and we looked at the way different dinosaurs adapted to their environment. Having learnt about Mary Anning, we were so excited to see the ichthyosaur skeletons which she had uncovered. It felt like going back in time! In the afternoon, we explored the rocks and crystals gallery, and sketched some of the beautiful exhibits we found there. They were all different shapes and sizes and every colour of the rainbow.
