As part of our World Book Day celebrations, on Friday 4 March we welcomed M. G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman who are the authors of the ‘Adventures on Trains’ series. Whilst they were promoting their book, ‘Sabotage on the Solar Express’, they also shared how they came to write as a duo and how they were inspired by trains and mystery stories.
Their presentation was filled with facts, fun and inspiration. For the train enthusiasts amongst the boys and girls, there was even a science experiment which demonstrated how a steam engine works. The morning was filled with many laughs, particularly when the children got to partake in the process of creating a murder mystery. As a finale, Maya and Sam read an extract from the book, purposefully leaving the audience on a cliffhanger. As with any great author talk, the children were inspired to read and write more. It was a wonderful way to end the week of celebrations and the boys and girls walked away delighted with their signed copy of ‘Sabotage on the Solar Express’.
