Kingston Borough Football Tournament

Posted: 9th March 2022

On Wednesday 2 March, eight Year 4 pupils proudly represented Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School at the Kingston Borough Football Tournament against six other schools. Although this was their first ever fixture as a team, they performed excellently as one cohesive unit. Each and every one of them contributed with either goals, assists, and last-ditch defensive tackles.  Additionally, everyone willingly volunteered to take a turn in goal, selflessly doing their part for the team. Highlights of the tournament included: Amber as a bastion of defence, tackling everyone who dared to try and take her on; Darcey with her non-stop running, relentlessly hunting down opposition players and driving with the ball back up the pitch; Eleanor was like an old seamstress with her weaving runs through scores of defenders; Daisy contributing to attack and defence, seemingly simultaneously with her tireless effort to get up and down the pitch; Freya’s expert reading of the game, enabling her to make several vital goal-line clearances; Olivia flawlessly executing key passes to send teammates through on goal; and Emma working the wings like a West End star; acting both as a defensive outlet for teammates and a threat to the opposition from out wide. All in all, each pupil did Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School very proud.
