Year 11 Visit the Jewish Museum

Posted: 11th November 2021

Thirty-five of our Y11 RS GCSE students headed up to London to visit the Jewish Museum in Camden.

The museum runs workshops specifically aimed at the GCSE course on ‘Jewish Beliefs, Teachings and Practices’ and we took part in a workshop on ‘Jewish Festivals’. The day was split into 3 sections allowing the students to work together in small groups exploring beliefs and practices around the festivals of Rosh Hashanah and the celebration of Shabbat, as well as learning about the Torah and the history of the Jewish community in London.

Our knowledgeable guides also encouraged the students to ask questions and we had a very informative final Q&A session, with many of our students raising pertinent and searching questions.

Here is a review from 3 of our students – Hannah, Anna and Alice:

“The trip to the Jewish Museum was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We were greeted with a thoughtful and intellectually engaging range of activities, which were entertaining but also very helpful for our RS GCSE. It was not only educational, but also fun. The information was well focused and fascinating while not being overwhelming and the variety of activities really allowed us to enjoy the full scope of what the museum and the well-informed, helpful staff had to offer.”
