The First Surbiton-COPE (SCOPE) Of the Year

Posted: 15th October 2021

On Wednesday 13 October, Year 7-13 participated in the first Surbiton-COPE (SCOPE) morning of the year based on the theme of Diversity and Inclusion. All students were fortunate enough to begin their mornings by hearing from Paralympian Claire Harvey, chief executive of Diversity Role Models and co-founder of the Schools’ Inclusion Alliance. Students then enjoyed a range of activities to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion, and the classrooms were buzzing with ideas inspired by Claire’s message!

Tutors and deputy tutors ran sessions for their form groups on a range of themes including positive values, celebrating individuality and reflecting on failure. Various members of staff also led activities for certain year groups including an arts and language carousel for Year 8 and a financial talk for Year 10 and 11. In the evening, parents were invited to a virtual talk from Claire Harvey, which can be watched using the Teams link from the SCOPE letter.

Our next virtual Parent Partnership Talk will be on 24 November at 7pm with Debi Stevens, from Action Breaks Silence, an educational charity established to create a world where women and girls can live their lives free from the fear of gender-based violence and the threat of such violence.
