Girls’ Prep Poetry Workshop

Posted: 8th October 2021

Freedom. Equality. Fairness… These are a few of the key concepts that the Year 4, 5 and 6 girls were discussing during their Poetry and Black History Month workshop this week.

The girls were tasked with writing a ‘cinquain’ poem, which has 5 lines and consists of the following syllable structure; 2, 4, 6, 8, 2. The girls were equipped with many inspirational leaders such as Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Michelle Obama and Malala. The pupils’ creative juices were well and truly flowing, their brains were ticking, and the Year 4 girls collaborated effectively to produce the following poem. We hope you find it thought provoking and inspirational:

Freedom

Equality

Fight for Fairness for all

Just like Martin Luther King did

Speak out!
