In what has been an extremely busy term for Year 6, I was delighted at the enthusiasm for and commitment shown to Debating Club this term.
Demonstrating maturity of thought, they produced several very nuanced responses to different debates based on current affairs. Is marking down bad spelling elitist, as some universities recently suggested? Is it time that primogeniture was abolished for all and not just for the Royal family? Developing their skills in reasoning and evidence – turning facts and statistics into a robust argument – the girls also spoke with passion, fully engaging in the debates.
I wish these girls the best of luck in the future and look forward to seeing how they take these skills of persuasion forward to the next part of their adventure.
