YEAR 3 VISIT THE CHILTERN OPEN AIR MUSEUM

Posted: 16th June 2021

On Thursday 28 May, Year 3 visited the Chiltern Open Air Museum to enhance the boys’ understanding of our Prehistory topic.

They had workshops about the Stone Age and the Iron Age. During the Stone Age workshop, the boys took part in four activities. They learnt how to make fires, as well as shelters by weaving animal skins together, paint by crushing charcoal mixed with animal fat, and learnt spear-throwing. They then travelled forward in time into the Iron Age where they learnt how to make flour, flat breads, butter, clay pots and iron. Life was certainly more sophisticated in the Iron Age!

We had a wonderful day in the sunshine and the boys represented Surbiton Boys’ Prep brilliantly with fantastic, inquisitive questioning and exemplary behaviour.
