CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH DELIVERED TO THE COMMUNITY

Posted: 1st January 2021

Following on from our successful Christmas Day lunch last year, we are planning to offer Christmas Lunch, with a difference, to those elderly, isolated or homeless residents in our community.

With the help of our local Churches, St Mark’s and St Andrew’s, St Matthew’s, St Mary’s Long Ditton, St Christopher’s Hinchley Wood, Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness and Staywell, we have over 100 people who will benefit from this service. With the generous help of over 30 volunteers from both St Mark’s and Surbiton High School, we are planning to deliver a hot meal and goodie bag to each person at lunchtime on Christmas Day.

Once again, we have been inundated with donations, including meat donations from C D Jennings & Son, insulated bags from Wren Kitchens and Doosra Restaurant, donations from Waitrose in Surbiton and the Surbiton Farmers’ market. Our wonderful school caterers, Chartwells, are providing all other foods and their staff will be preparing and cooking the meals on Christmas Day.

Whilst Covid-19 has prevented us from meeting together and sharing the community spirit that was so special last year, we are delighted that we are able to help ensure some of those who most need it in our community will have a warm meal and some festive cheer.
