Tuesday 10 November marked UNESCO’s World Science Day for Peace and Development.
The theme for this year was Science for and with Society. To celebrate this, KS1 and KS2 boys completed a bridge-building Science investigation. The brief was to create a bridge across a canyon for a toy car to travel over. The task was differentiated between the two key stages. KS1 were provided with a pack of materials to use within their groups. KS2 purchased their materials from Bob’s Building Supplies, using a £100 budget; therefore planning was key. Throughout the task, teachers delivered special offers such as ‘Buy one get one free’ for paper, to provide groups with a materials boost at key points within the task.
All year groups collaborated brilliantly with their teammates and constructed a range of effectively engineered bridges which achieved the objective of the task. Well done, everyone, for working so hard in this investigation!
