PORTRAITS FOR NHS HEROES

Posted: 6th October 2020

During lockdown, our Gifted and Talented Art Club took part in a nationwide project making portraits for NHS key workers. The project was instigated on Instagram by artist Thomas Croft under the hashtag #portraitsforNHSheroes.

The hashtag quickly went viral as a community of artists and NHS workers came together and began to communicate virtually. The messages exchanged were honest and emotive, but ultimately, full of hope and pride in their profession.

In creating a portrait, our Gifted and Talented artists have immortalised their subjects and have done extremely well to capture not only their physical likeness, but also their true essence as individuals. The portraits will be temporarily exhibited altogether before they are sent to their subjects as a gesture of thanks for all their hard work during this truly challenging time.

Displayed alongside these works are exerts of emails exchanged with the subjects of these portraits.
