LEARNING WITH DYSLEXIA

Posted: 8th May 2019

Dyslexia is the most common cause of reading, writing and spelling difficulties. Between 5-10% of the population are expected to have dyslexia. It is not a learning need that can be overlooked lightly and can have a profound impact on how pupils learn.

Our recent parent and staff talk by Claire Harvey from the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity provided a great opportunity for parents from both Girls’ and Boys’ Prep School and the Senior School to learn about different methods of removing the barriers to learning and life that dyslexia can bring. Strategies to help different types of learning behaviour and techniques for parents to help their children were all discussed to aid learning and bring out the best in our pupils.
