OUTSTANDING GCSE RESULTS FOR YEAR 11

Surbiton High School is delighted to report another excellent set of GCSE results this year. With 79% of all grades at 9-7/A*-A, the results across the board are outstanding and demonstrate the commitment Surbiton High School has to providing breadth and depth to its excellent academic provision**.

The introduction of tougher GCSEs this year further highlights the outstanding results, with one quarter of all pupils being awarded the highest grade 9. 94% of all results were graded 9-6/A*-B.

Pupils studied the more rigorous IGCSEs in Modern Foreign Languages and have seen fantastic results, with 50% achieving A* in French and Spanish and 68% in German. Further to this, the wider language options of Italian, Japanese and Russian all achieved 100% A*, with 50% of Chinese results A* and 75% of Latin results were awarded grade 9-8.

STEM subjects have also yielded excellent results, with grades 9-8 being awarded in 63% of all Mathematics papers, 62% in Biology, 57% in Physics, 54% in Chemistry and 43% in Computer Science. Pupils taking the Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics achieved outstanding results with 90% at A*, of which one quarter achieved an A* with distinction.

In Performing Arts, 59% of results in Drama were awarded grade 9 and Music saw 72% at 9–8. Significant numbers of pupils also gained top results in Geography, History and Religious Studies, with grades 9-8 awarded to 68% in Geography, 59% in History and 52% in Religious Studies.

Thirty three pupils achieved a complete set of results at the highest grade 9-7/A*-A. Notable results have been achieved by our GB rowers, Emily, Charlotte and both Olivias, who gained over 37 grades at 9-7/A*- A between them whilst also rowing for GB J16 team. The girls won their first international race against France in July. Sisters Rose (Year 13) and Eleanor (Year 11) achieved straight A*s across A-levels and GCSEs, with Rose gaining 4 A*s at A-level and Eleanor 10.5 grade 9-8/A* grade at GCSE.
