Sixth Form
To qualify for entry to Surbiton High Sixth Form girls normally need a minimum of eight GCSE passes at grade C and above, including Bs in Mathematics and English. We would normally expect you to have at least a grade A in a GCSE subject if you wish to study it at AS level. Individual discussions will be held with students wishing to take up subjects which they have not studied at GCSE.
If your daughter is already at Surbiton High she will have a ‘taster day' in the Summer term of Year 10 which gives you a chance to sample Sixth Form lessons and life - including not wearing uniform and being free to go out for lunch. Then, in the Autumn Term of Year 11 she will attend a Sixth Form Options Evening. This is her chance to find out all about the subjects on offer so that she can choose which ones you wish to study in Year 12 and beyond. That is followed by an individual guidance interview, when we talk with your daughter in detail about her choices and ensure they match her academic potential and career/university aspirations. After her mock GCSEs and the Year 11 parents' evening, she is then asked to finalise her subject choices in early February.
If your daughter is not currently a student at Surbiton High School, she is encouraged to attend the Sixth Form Open Morning in October, when she will have an opportunity to tour the school/Sixth Form Centre and meet with subject staff. Application for entry to the Sixth Form is through the Admissions Registrar. The closing date for registrations for is 1st November of the year prior to entry. The Registration Form is available on the website.
Once the completed Registration Forms have been received, together with the £50 Registration Fee, we will then arrange to interview your daughter in November.
We also offer Sixth Form Scholarships and Bursaries. Please click here for more information.
