School Closure | Independent School Surrey | Surbiton High School
A welcome from our Principal

School Closure

COVID-19 Update: Following government guidelines, Surbiton High School is temporarily closed to the majority of pupils until further notice.

Following on from the advice of the Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, on 18 March 2020, the School will be closed to the majority of pupils, with onsite provision for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils for the remainder of the Summer Term. We are also delighted to welcome back Years 2, 3 and 4 for four days between now and the end of term. Year 2, 3 and 4 girls will be spread across the Girls’ Prep with Year 5 being based at Mary Bennett House. All boys from Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be based at Avenue Elmers. This is to ensure ample space for learning, lunch and playtimes. This enables us to maximise the space on site and to ensure that the pupils do not mix with the younger year groups, who are likely to struggle to maintain social distancing of 2 metres. These measures are in place to prioritise the children’s health and safety whilst they are in our care. Teaching for all other years groups will continue to be delivered remotely, except one to one mentoring time for Year 10 and Year 12 pupils.

Our staff remain committed to delivering the highest educational provision to the best of our ability during these unprecedented times and more information on our remote learning provision can be accessed here. You can also view the policy for the continuity of education here. The School will remain in regular contact with all parents via the usual means of MIS and with pupils through the multitude of resources we have available to us.

If you have a safeguarding concern, please email our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Matthew Close.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support, understanding and adaptability to changing circumstances during this unprecedented time.
