Girls’ Prep National Poetry Day and Black History Month

Posted: 7th October 2022

During a double-whammy workshop that combined Poetry Day and Black History Month, pupils were engaged and alert whilst writing impactful clerihews, 4 line poems with our visitor, Chris, from As Creatives. Please read the wonderful example written by Ziyan.

Pupils learned about the incredible impact activists have had on the world as we know it, looking at the determined Doreen Lawrence, the champion Marcus Rashford and the persevering pioneer that was Lilian Bader. Collaboratively, pupils created poems with guidance and support, before moving on to write their own versions, some of which will be shared and celebrated in our Celebration Assembly on Friday.
