GCSE Success for Surbiton High Boys’ Prep Pupil

a teacher and a student

When Jai joined Surbiton High School, we recognised an appetite for learning from the very beginning and were able to nurture his love for mathematics and challenge him to become resilient and resourceful.

It is a fantastic achievement to achieve a grade 9 in Mathematics whilst in Year 5 and wonderful to see his hard work rewarded. Jai loves to discuss his learning and many boys have benefitted from his input in lessons. We are proud of Jai, not only for his achievement in Maths, but also in the way he has worked independently and collaboratively to reach his goal.

Jai stated:

I started studying the higher course in September 2018, so I had to work efficiently as I was aiming for the highest grade. It wasn’t easy as this was my first ever GCSE exam sitting, but with effort and a bit of sacrifice I achieved my goal of a level 9 in my Mathematics GCSE. I’m over the moon! Thank you to Mrs Ralph and Surbiton Boys’ Prep School for always having faith in me, it really helped me and I look forward to continuing my extended learning journey after my 11+ exams.
