SURBITON HIGH BOYS’ PREP PUPIL GAINS GRADE 8 MATHEMATICS GCSE

Posted: 28th August 2018

From a very early age, Kai showed a fascination with numbers and it was clear that Mathematics was his favourite subject at school. At the tender age of six years old, Kai began to study for his Maths GCSE, Foundation Level and gained a grade C. We were thrilled with this result, but Kai wanted to challenge himself further. Kai is a positive and resilient learner and understands the importance of hard work to achieve his very best.

Kai joined the older boys for his Mathematics lessons, so that he could broaden his experiences and work with like-minded mathematicians.  Inspired by the excellent teaching of Mathematics at the Boys’ Prep School and by his mum, Kai embarked on his next challenge – the Higher GCSE Mathematics paper and was awarded a grade 6 in the summer of 2017.  Determined to do even better, Kai retook this exam in June 2018 and was thrilled to receive a grade 8.

Speaking of his success and experiences, Kai says:

Maths is my passion, my hobby and me! I have, with the support of Surbiton High Boys’ Prep reached my goal and achieved a grade 8 (A*) in my GCSE Maths. I am now beginning my core 1 Kinematics as I travel towards my A level Maths.

Mrs Ralph, Head of Surbiton High Boys’ Preparatory School stated:

Kai enjoys creating quizzes and games, encouraging everyone to take part and even teaching his classmates algebra during morning play! Kai is an exemplary pupil and a role model to the younger boys. He is confident, with a sharp wit and appreciation of the world around him.
