Opening of Boys’ Prep Charles Burney House
On 26 May, a very special guest came to the Boys’ Prep to open Charles Burney House. The morning started at Avenue Elmers, with a few boys having a tennis session with former British number 1 tennis player, Mr Tim Henman. Mr Henman, assisted by Head Coach of Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Club, Mr Dan Bloxham, firstly put the boys through their paces with warmup exercises, followed by racquet practice.
The morning continued with Mr Henman taking part in a Question and Answer session hosted by Mr Edmonds in Surbiton Assembly Rooms. Questions such as ‘What do you think of when you walk out on court?’, ‘Who do you think will win Wimbledon this year?’ and ‘What is your favourite dinosaur?’ were all ably answered by Mr Henman.
Finally, parents, pupils and staff all gathered in the reception area of Charles Burney House for Mr Henman to officially open the building. He did so by pulling curtains to reveal a smart plaque to commemorate the occasion. We would all like to thank Mr Henman for coming to our School and taking the time to share his expertise and words of advice and wisdom to all our pupils.
