Extra Curricular Activities and Enrichment

Surbiton High School runs an extensive and varied programme of trips and visits. These range in scope from day trips organised within academic subject areas all the way up to international residential expeditions lasting several weeks such as the netball tour to Barbados, the Geography trip to Iceland and the expedition to Mongolia. The main criteria for the approval to organise a trip or visit is that it underpins the School's main aims "to bring out the best in everyone".

At the beginning of the academic year, girls are invited to two Extra-Curricular Fairs in the SAR Main Hall. This is an opportunity for the girls to identify and sign up for the numerous clubs on offer. The first fair will showcase Music, Sport and Drama Clubs and the second Fair will showcase all the other clubs such as Languages, Chess and Film. The Clubs take place at lunch-time and after school, as well as in our Creativity Week.

There is a timetabled programme of Enrichment once a week for all years, which offers an opportunity for pupils to choose each term from a wide range of options. They will be broadening, stimulating and challenging and will provide a diverse range of educational activities designed to promote independent thinking and learning. Examples include Learning and Thinking Skills, Touch Typing, Science, Introduction to New Languages, Current Affairs and Ethics, plus Health Related Fitness.
