Back to School for Spelbound - 17/06/2010
Having been proclaimed winners of Britain's Got Talent by 19 million viewers on Saturday night, it was back to school and straight into exams for Katie, Abi and Amy, our three members of the gymnastics group ‘Spelbound.'
Less than 48 hours after winning the competition, Abi was sitting her Mathematics IGCSE whilst Amy was sitting her first year exams. Katie, who is about to start her A Levels, was busy revising.
Celebrations to mark the girls' success, therefore, had to wait until after school.
Principal, Ann Haydon said:
"Everyone at Surbiton High School is so delighted for Spelbound and there is a real sense of pride and delight at their success.
"The School is developing a real expertise in gymnastics and we have nine girls who represent Great Britain. We were already celebrating three of our pupils winning gold medals at the British Gymnastics Championships two weeks ago and Nicole Hibbert won a silver medal at the European Championships as part of team GB competing with Beth Tweddle. But Spelbound's success is something very different and has caught the imagination of the British public.
"The girls are very grounded, however, and are well prepared and ready for their exams today. But we'll have a small celebration for them after School to congratulate them on their amazing success."
