Surbiton High Pupil appears in TV Dramas - 26/01/2012

Surbiton High pupil Isabella Parriss started acting at the age of seven, having watched a video of the musical 'Les Miserables' and decided she would like to play the role of Cosette! After much persistence, she persuaded her mum to take her to the Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marylebone, London to audition for their agency. She sang for them and had to sight read and was delighted when they decided to take her on. Even though she tried out for the role of Cosette and was recalled twice, she was unsuccessful in landing the role. The agency then started putting her up for television and film roles, and she was lucky enough to be cast as: Estelle in ‘Where the Heart Is'; Young Miss Jane Marple in ‘Bertram's Hotel'; Little Miss Polly in ‘The History of Mr Polly'; Cobweb in ‘Ballet Shoes'; and Marie Therese in ‘The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side'. Isabella was also cast in two BBC Radio 4 plays, ‘SOS' & ‘Adulteries of a Provincial Wife'. When she was 12, Isabella was lucky enough to be taken on as one of only two children by the agent John Wood at Sally Hope Associates, the other young actor is Eros Vlahos, who co-starred in ‘Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang'.
Isabella's most recent television appearance was as Phoebe in the first episode of the BBC's current series of ‘Hustle' and on Boxing Day a TV screenplay of ‘Poirot: The Clocks' in which she played the character of Jenny.
Isabella says, "Acting is a passion of mine and I have so appreciated all these amazing experiences." We wish her continued success and look forward to reporting on future roles.
