Year 7 Scholarships
All scholarships are awarded for the full seven years of the Senior School and are only available for girls expecting to remain in the School until university entrance. Scholarships are awarded irrespective of family income.
Academic Scholarships
Academic scholarships offer up to 50% reduction in the standard fees and are awarded on the basis of the entrance examination and school report. All candidates will be eligible.
Art Scholarship
The Art Scholarship offers up to 33% reduction in the standard fees, and is awarded to those girls who demonstrate a high level of talent in and commitment to Art and Design and will participate fully in the artistic life of the School. In order to consider an application we request that the following be submitted by Friday 13 November 2009: · A Portfolio of applicant’s work produced during the last year at home or at school. This should include sketch books and, if appropriate, photographs of any three-dimensional work. · A report from the applicant’s Art teacher. The Head of Art and an art teacher will hold interviews and a practical assessment for selected applicants only. The assessment will be held on Saturday 9 January 2010. At the assessment the applicant will undertake a short drawing exercise and discuss a particular artist or an exhibition that they have visited. An external assessor may be used as a member of the selection panel.
Sport Scholarship
The Sport Scholarship offers up to 33% reduction in the standard fees, and is awarded to those girls who demonstrate a level of competence equivalent to national level and will participate fully in the sporting life of the School. In order to consider an application we request that the following be submitted by Friday 13 November 2009:
The sport and level played.
A letter detailing sporting achievements and training programme and a DVD of 5 to 8 minutes of the applicant participating in her chosen sporting discipline. This should not be professionally produced. Copies will not be made of this recording, which will be returned at the end of the selection process.
A report from her coach and/or her PE teacher.
The Head of PE will hold interviews and a range of fitness tests for selected applicants only. The assessment will be held on Saturday 9 January 2010. At the assessment the applicant will demonstrate their level of fitness and sporting aptitude and discuss their sporting interests. An external assessor may be used as a member of the selection panel.
Music Scholarship
The Music Scholarship offers up to 33% reduction in the standard fees, and is awarded to those girls who show exceptional musical talent and will participate fully in the life of the School. Candidates should have reached the equivalent of Grade 5. In order to consider an application we request that the following be submitted by Friday 13 November 2009: · A report from applicant’s Music Teacher for each instrument she is intending to offer. · 1st Instrument and Grade, 2nd Instrument and Grade. There will be an audition for selected applicants only. The audition will be held on Saturday 9 January 2010. At the audition the applicant should be prepared to play two contrasting pieces on her first instrument and one piece on her second instrument/s. Each piece should last no longer than 4 minutes. She should be prepared to sight read on her main instrument and take some aural tests. After the audition she will meet with the Director of Music and the Assistant Director of Music in a more informal setting, to discuss her musical activities, interests and achievements. An accompanist can be provided so long as a copy of the music is clearly labelled and received two weeks prior to the audition. It will not be possible to rehearse with the accompanist prior to the audition. A room will be available 20 minutes prior to the audition to warm up. An external assessor may be used as a member of the selection panel.
Church Schools Foundation Assisted Places
The CSFAP offer a percentage reduction of fees on a sliding scale according to parental income. The CSFAP are awarded for the full seven years of the Senior School and are thus only available for girls expecting to remain in the School until University entrance.
Clergy Bursaries
A percentage reduction of fees is awarded to daughters of the Clergy. For Clergy Bursaries, parents should contact Sue Manning at the United Church Schools Trust - 01832 735105
