Second Hand Uniform

What is the Second Hand Uniform Sale?

The Second Hand Uniform Sale provides a service to parents whereby you are able to sell unwanted/outgrown items of school uniform or equipment and purchase good quality second hand pieces.  Once a sale has been made the Parents' Association (PA) takes 40% of the sale value and the balance is returned to you. (Unless you wish for all proceeds to be donated to PA Funds!)

Dates and Times

The Second Hand Uniform Sale takes place once a month on a Monday from 8.00 am – 10.00 am. It is held in the Drama Room situated in the Clock Tower at the Junior Girls School.

All dates are given on the calendar on the School Website. (Generally they are the first Monday of each month unless that is a Bank Holiday, Inset Day or the first day back from a holiday period – in which case they take place the Monday following.) 

In addition there is a Saturday Sale held  towards the end of the Summer term.

Payment for Goods

We accept cash or cheques made payable to SHS PA.

Submission of Old Uniform for Sale

What is accepted for sale?
We are happy to accept any item of school uniform providing  it is clean, re-wearable and is on the current school uniform lists.  Any items submitted that are not on the current uniform list or are in a state of repair unfit for resale will be sent for recycling via charity collection. Please note that we are unable to sell items which have been embroidered with a name directly onto the fabric.

We also take items of equipment such as hockey sticks, tennis rackets, cricket bats, Judo suits, hockey boots Football boots etc.  They must in be good enough condition to be re-used.

Where to leave items to be sold
Items for sale can be left at Reception at the Junior Girls, Prep or Senior School.  They will be taken in time for the next Sale.  Alternatively bring them to the sale on the day.

Labelling
Please download and complete the Submission Form (attached to this page) with every bag of goods sent to the sale.  This information is required to ensure that money due to you from the sales can be forwarded back to you.

In addition to the Submission Form, pre-printed labels are available to download from this page.  Alternatively you or your child can collect a Submission Form and pre-printed sheets of labels from Reception at the Junior Girls School, Boys Prep and Senior School.

Anything you wish to sell should be labelled with

• your child’s full name
• current year group
• your email
• your phone number
• size of the garment
• a contact name and address
• or ticked if you wish the money to be donated to PA funds

Pricing

We will price the items for you.  Prices are reasonable and vary depending on the quality of the goods submitted for sale.

Returning Money to You

Once an item is sold, 40% will be deducted for PA funds.  The balance will be returned to you.  To cut down on administration costs this will be done at the end of each term.

The sale notification will be sent out via your child, in an envelope clearly marked for your attention stating that a second hand uniform sale notice is enclosed.  Cheques will be available for collection at the next sale.

Should you wish the proceeds of the sale to be taken as a donation to PA funds please advise on receipt of notification via email.
